Steeple Action and a Picky Party!
After five straight days of warmth and sunshine, we woke up yesterday to cloudy, cool weather; I'm pretty sure I'm going to be in big trouble when I get home, especially since the dew point in Little Rock has been hovering around 76 degrees.
Since I'm trying to soak up as much of this weather as I can, my homies and I decided to meet up with some folks at the Brooks house for a group run yesterday morning and, what do you know? Nick Symmonds was there to send us off!
I ran some easy miles with Paulette and Kaleigh along Pre's Trail and, again, it's so much fun to see so many local and traveling runners enjoying the outdoors together.
We picked up a little post-run snack at Great Harvest and then returned to Home Tweet Home for some downtime before the evening's excitement and fun.
The rain showed up just in time for the big events on the track, including the women's 3,000m steeplechase final. There were three Oiselle athletes who'd earned spots in the final round - Shalaya Kipp, Megan Rolland and Mel Lawrence - and we were pumped to cheer them on, rain or shine.
Even though the track was soaked and the conditions were not ideal, these women were FIERCE out there and ran some amazing times during the race. The three Oiselle women - Shalaya, Megan and Mel - came in 4th, 7th, and 8th, respectively, and it was an honor to watch them fly!
Cold and wet, we made our way to our next stop - Oregon Wine Lab - for a monumental occasion! The folks at Picky Bars hosted a party for Picky friends and we were invited!
The venue was great and the staff was amazing; the wine was delicious, as were the appetizers that were served, and then, of course, there were these two:
We definitely enjoyed ourselves and the atmosphere, without getting too serious about it all; what kind of Picky party would it be without some shenanigans?
For a gal who is usually in bed by 8:30-9:00pm, I stayed out way too late and I will need lots of coffee/naps today, but it was all worth it! I've enjoyed spending so much time with this amazing community and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have connected, in person, with such genuine, compassionate, supportive individuals.
Today we've got another group run planned, I will be attending a meeting for Oiselle Volée leaders this afternoon, there's more action at the track, and a happy hour this evening at Ninkasi Brewing Company!
