New Week, New Book (3/19/18)
Hosted by The Book Date
Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend; I know several folks who participated in St. Patrick's Day festivities and I was fortunate enough to enjoy a really nice day on Saturday, full of sunshine and warmth. Today marks the first day of spring break for schools in my area which means, even though I'm not on vacation, I get a much less busy commute to work this week! HOORAY!
In case you missed it, I published my Best Books to Read on Spring Break 2018 list on Friday; this is so much fun to put together, especially when there are so many great selections to choose from at the start of the year. When does spring break begin (or end, if you've already had it!) in your area?
After finishing Educated on audio last week (it's on my spring break list!), I am also looking forward to today's commute because, thanks to so many great recommendations (like this one from Renee at It's Book Talk and this one from Sarah's Book Shelves), I'm starting I'll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara...and the audio is narrated by author Gillian Flynn, which I feel like makes it even creepier!
I also finished three other books last week, in preparation for the aforementioned spring break roundup: Laura & Emma, which I loved (full review); Sometimes I Lie; and The Gunners. I'll have reviews on the last two coming up soon, but you can check out the list for more information until then. Like my friend Susie at Novel Visits has already mentioned here, you WILL WANT TO READ The Gunners. I rarely take breaks after reading novels, usually beginning another almost immediately, but it took a full day after finishing it before I could pick up anything else.
This week, I'll finish up The Italian Party and plan to move on to Castle of Water since my library hold is now available! I initially heard about this book from Susie at Novel Visits; it is also the March selection of the Bucket List Book Club, hosted by Sara of Texas Girl Reads. I'm excited to finally get around to it!
How was your weekend? Are you ready for spring? What are you reading?
