@runningnreading

Happy Sunday! I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to some uninterrupted reading time today. There are a zillion things I could (or maybe should? 🤷🏻‍♀️) do with my time at home but I’ve discovered that if I don’t allow time for myself I’m not going to start the new week off very well. •
I’ve just finished reading THE CUCKOO’S CALLING and I’m looking forward to some discussion with my #RowlingAStrike reading buddies; this one has been on my list for a long time and I’m glad I finally had the push I needed to read it. Even though there were a few slower sections, when I finished I *immediately* understood why they were necessary. Don’t you just love it when stories come together that way? •
I hope you all have a great day today; what’s on your agenda?
During a conversation with @kreeder26 yesterday (y’all, I am SO thankful for her 💚), I reflected on how much I’ve had to adjust my expectations as an aging runner. I started running at age 15 and I am currently 43; my body has a lot of miles on it. 😜
•
In early 2013, after a challenging and humbling life experience, I set a goal to qualify for the Boston Marathon. I’m closer than I’d ever expected to be and, if my body allows, I’ll make an attempt at it later this year. It’s not easy work, but I love the challenge, and I want to keep going as long as I’m still having fun. .
•
No matter what happens, I am thankful for every day that I am able to go for a run and feel okay. I don’t feel great every day, lots of runs are mediocre, tolerable, but I can do it and I enjoy the privilege. I am thankful that I do not have physical limitations that prevent me from moving my body, being active, and I think of those who would love to have this ability. .
•
I hope you all get to do something you enjoy today, whatever that might be, and I’m thankful for you and this community of runners and readers!
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY, friends! ⠀
💘💘💘⠀
Like many of you, I suspect, I do NOT do crowds or crowded spaces well; this means that going out for a traditional date on this holiday is out of the question. I’m thankful that my spouse and I are very like-minded in this regard. 😉⠀
⠀
Thankfully, our local library system has a small movie theater (that non-book nerds know nothing about 😂); tonight, FOR ONLY $8, they have a double feature consisting of Wayne’s World - the “bromance” portion of the evening - and Clueless - the “BFFs” selection - and we’re going to get wild and stay up past our bedtime to watch them both! There’s also gourmet popcorn so, you know, that may have factored into our decision. ⠀
⠀
It’s the final day of #loveinthestacks2019 and today is all about red books; I love seeing all of these together! I hope y’all have a great day; tell me about your plans, especially if they don’t involve going out! 😜⠀
⠀
⠀
I’m so thankful for folks like @chelseyreads and @definitelyra who put together online community events like #bookstagramgalentinesday; this year, I’ve been fortunate enough to connect with @misshollyjolly, who sent me these absolutely delightful and thoughtful treats, and I might not otherwise have found her! HAPPY GALENTINE’S DAY, FRIENDS! ❤️
